As title states, is there a reason why running the ee site create example.com --wpfc installs W3 total plugin?
Edit: Noticed that memcached is used for database and object cache.

Nginx’s fastcgi_cache is used for page-caching & W3 Total Cache is used for MySQL & Object cache.
Take a look at the comment thread after the article, found on this page: https://rtcamp.com/wordpress-nginx/tutorials/single-site/w3-total-cache/
