Worpress 4.1 update on theme Atahualpa with rtmedia and buddypress commenting on media strange behaviour

Hi, the Worpress 4.1 update on theme Atahualpa with rtmedia and buddypress breaks the comments system.

Ok its a strange one to describe but when on wordpress 4.0 this does not happen!!, when installing buddypress and rtmedia on wordpress 4.1 with latest Atahualpa theme these problems arise.

When commenting on a photo in the activity stream or in the the lightbox mode a problem occurs, underneath sitewide activity or any buddypress related pages it lists all the comments made on any rtmedia related post at the bottom of each page like a blog comment!!!

i will try to explain a little better:

(example) Underneath the sitewide activity page it says “no comments yet to sitewide activity” and underneath it will show all the comments made on any rtmedia post!

this is not a problem caused with Atahualpa or buddypress as both work fine with 4.1, this only occurs when rtmedia is activated, if i revert back to wordpress 4.0 the problem goes away, as you can see this is quite a serious problem and prevents users running buddypress with Atahualpa from being able to upgrade from wordpress 4.0 and is a serious security risk for users of this theme running buddypress and rtmedia if they can never update wordpress.

  1. To test this install wordpress 4.0 and buddypress and rtmedia on Atahualpa then enable lighbox mode and commenting in rtmedia settings, then go to sitewide activity and upload a few photos and comment on them in both the activity stream and then in the lightbox, then scroll to bottom of the page after a refresh and you will see no comments under sitewide activity . (all is fine)

  2. NOW DO THIS! - install wordpress 4.1 and buddypress and rtmedia on Atahualpa then enable lighbox mode and commenting in rtmedia settings, then go to sitewide activity and upload a few photos and comment on them in both the activity stream and then in the lightbox, then scroll to bottom of the page after a refresh and you will see all the comments you just made within rtmedia are displaying at the bottom of the page. (ALL IS NOT FINE!)

Could you please look into this as Atahualpa is one of the most downloaded and used themes of all time since 2007 and this needs fixing so users can install further wordpress updates! ty

rtMedia comments are nothing but WordPress post comments and rtMedia syncs BuddyPress activity comments with the attached media comments.

We have tested with WordPress default theme for 4.1 and it is working fine. In atahualpa theme, it’s showing comments from blog post as well and hence it shows rtMedia comments too.

You might need to do some changes in theme’s comment system.

I also suggest to contact atahualpa theme developers, in case they have any solution for this issue.
