Unattended Security Updates, possible problems?

Hi everyone, may unattended security updates in Ubuntu -link- may break an installation? I was playing with the new 3.3.1 and after an automatic upgrade (were mysql-common was upgraded), MariaDB crashed and i wasn’t able to repair it

Hello,

It is possible for any update to break Ubuntu / services. Best in true production / server type environment to manual update / controlled via admin and prior to ANY update; backup, apply to a staging server, test then repeat for production.

Hi David, yep this is a good practice. But, as described, distribution security updates are MEANT not to break things… maybe a whitelist for the component of the EE stack can help?
