Hi, I was just wondering, is it possible to paste into the activity a picture link and a thumbnail shows up just like when you post in video link? any help would be great, thanks

The video is added by default by BuddyPress using something called oEmbed. It doesn't support photos. Our plugin will add support for images and links, too, soon.

WordPress/BuddyPress already supports oEmbed (embedding videos from popular sites like Flickr).
