Feature requests below
1-The ability to sort and search through the gallery. Sorting similar to how media is sorted in buddy press profile. (By music,photo,ect.)
2-Allow users to add tags to there photos and videos for easier and more relevant searching.

Yes! Definitely need tabs and searching and tags!!! Otherwise a big gallery is not very useful.
Tabs - like on bp other directory pages -
All Media | Images | Videos | Audio | Docs | My Media | Friend's Media
Searching - also like on other bp dir pages - all you need is a simple search of title, description, tags
Tags - are also very important for something like this..gotta have them.
@constructionwork - We are in the process of releasing rtMedia Pro ( http://rtcamp.com/articles/rtmedia-premium-opensource/ ). Although we do have plans of this but we have not yet decided whether this would be a part of the free or pro version.
