Photos in profile gallery are blurry

Hi,

when I upload a photo to a member’s profile gallery, the photo looks very blurry…but when clicked on it, you can see that the quality remained same and is very good. Is there a way to make gallery photos look sharper as well? What shall I do?

Please compare:

Thank you!

Hello @Petra,

Please once check Media sizes tab under rtMedia admin settings for different media sizes. You can try modifying the Thumbnail size for photo media gallery to resize the thumbnails.

Note: Try uploading new media for new media sizes.

Here is the document link for admin settings - https://rtmedia.io/docs/settings/image-sizes/

I hope it will help you.

Thank you.

Hi, thanks for such a quick reply. I tried the link but it took me to a demo site…couldn’t find rtmedia-settings there

Hello @Petra,

Sorry for that. It was by mistake.

Please check the document like here - https://rtmedia.io/docs/settings/image-sizes/

Thank you, Pranali

Hi,

thanks for the link. I’ve read it already. I tried to play with thumbnail sizes. Once I set the size to 320x240 ( the same as my Medium size ), the photos in members gallery are nice and sharp. Is it normal?

I would also like to ask what is the maximum file size of the photo my members can upload? Is it 2 Mb? ( found this in my debug info [php.ini] upload_max_filesize: 2M )

Also, I found this in my debug info [php.ini] memory_limit: 256M…what does it stand for? Does it mean that if my members will upload for example 128 photos of 2 Mb each, the memory will be full and there will be no more uploads available? If so, can I limit upload max filesize to a smaller size like 500 Kb?

Thanks a lot.

Hello @Petra,

Once I set the size to 320x240 ( the same as my Medium size ), the photos in members gallery are nice and sharp. Is it normal?

We didn’t get your query. Could you please explain it again?

Your upload limit depends on below parameters set in your php.ini:

upload_max_filesize
post_max_size

You can increase the value of above parameters to maximize the upload limits.

Thank you.

I was just wondering, whether it is normal in order to have nice sharp pictures in my members gallery, that I had to set up the size of thumbnail to 320x240 which is the exact same size I have for my Medium size pictures. Thanks

Hello @Petra,

Yes, it is normal. You can set height and width as per your need to display your thumbnail properly. Just make sure it doesn’t break your UI.

Thank you.

thanks
