Dunno much about that, but I know it was there in v3. Is it necessary/recommended maybe? Is it present?

You mean the things that are done to auto implement Google Pagespeed recommendations? They deprecated it back at v3.6 https://easyengine.io/tutorials/nginx/using-pagespeed
You can get very high PageSpeed scores without it though, Easyengine takes care of most things anyway, then just follow PageSpeed / Lighthouse recommendations
