Migrate data from BP-Album to rtMedia

Hi there, I’m using the Sweetdate theme from SeventhQueen which only had BP-Album at the time of my purchase. I have 660 members on my site now all having uploaded tons of images using BP-Album. But, as we all know, rtMedia is a whole lot better in every way.

So, I was wondering if there is any way for me to migrate from BP-Album to rtMedia.

I did see some other posts about this, but they were like a couple of years old, so I don’t know how relevant they are anymore.

Needless to say it is vital for me that the images of my members are not deleted and working correctly after the switch to rtMedia.

I appreciate any and all help I can get with this issue, and I really hope that there is a solution so that I can start using the almighty rtMedia instead of the washed-up BP-Album.

Hello @pixelmagic,

BP Album is pretty old plugin and has not been updated since 2 years. We had BP Album importer till BuddyPress Media 2.15.4 and we removed in rtMedia 3.0. So its not available with our latest releases :expressionless:

You may try old versions from - https://wordpress.org/plugins/buddypress-media/developers/

What you can try is:

  1. Create a staging site from your live site (so live site won’t get affected)
  2. Install BuddyPress Media 2.15.4 on staging site
  3. Use BP Album migration functionality
  4. Upgrade BuddyPress Media to latest version

If all goes well, you may switch to rtMedia (BuddyPress-Media). Some customers followed above steps and it worked for them. So I hope it will work for you as well. :slight_smile:

I have now tried installing version 2.15.4 as you suggested but unfortunately, no luck :-/

I find the BP-Album Import section, according to it I have 2556 images on 298 profiles to migrate. But nothing happens when I press the import button. Just a spinning icon that never stops spinning and a message saying do not refresh this page. (I tried letting it spin for 12 hours straight btw but still nothing happened).

So, seems I’m stuck with BP-Album then :frowning:
