Is ee update safe as a crontab entry?

Is it safe to add a crontab with ee upgrade command on my system? Can it break something in the future, making troubleshooting untrackable?

Example, if PHP 8 is out and included in the easyengine and crontab runs, is it 100% safe and will it sucessfully upgrade my php to 8?

ee update won’t work in crontab. It demands user to type a confirmation in order to proceed with the upgrade.
