How to setup email accounts

I’ll apologize straight away because this thread is full of questions which might seem silly to most of you. But trust me I did go through the other forum threads here and could not find a solution so decided to open a separate thread. I am sure this might help some noob like me later on sometime…

So I installed ViMbAdmin successfully and created domains and mailboxes into VimbAdmin. (I have 4 different domains and all are set up on a single digitalocean droplet)

But I cannot send or receive any emails.

I understand after reading the various support threads on the topic that I should create a MX record in DigitalOcean account, which I did.

Now my A and MX record looks like this:

A webmail 111.111.111.111 (droplet ip)

MX 1 webmail.domain.com. (where 1 being priority)

Should I be doing this for all the domains?

I could not understand what am I doing wrong? From where will I be able to access my emails? I don’t see that option in ViMbAdmin and http://webmail.domain.com gives a ‘page not available’ message. I see a roundcubemail folder in my htdocs but don’t know hoe to access it.

Also is there any option to create a catch all email id so [email protected] is forwarded to the main email?

Thanks so much for your help.

You need to create MX record for all domains for which you want to receive emails.

About catch-all, I haven’t tried it but found some links:

https://github.com/opensolutions/ViMbAdmin/issues/11 and https://github.com/opensolutions/ViMbAdmin/wiki/V2---Config-Files-for-full-domain-aliasing

You may get better help for catch-all part in ViMbAdmin forum.

Thanks Rahul for your speedy reply.

I am not very sure if the A record and MX record I mentioned above is correct? Actually I wanted confirmation on that and should I create only MX record or A and MX record for all the domains?

Thanks
