Hidden/private fourms and groups: Anyone can see image

When I upload media to a private and or hidden group, EVERYONE can see it. What am I doing wrong?

Hi @colabsadmin,

Thanks for your suggestions we have created the issue regarding your request.

You can track it here : https://github.com/rtCamp/rtMedia/issues/498

Wow. You mean this isn’t in the code already?

@colabsadmin Sorry for confusion and inconvenience.

Basically we will be revisiting privacy options for group soon.

In current case, all 4 privacy options are shown and they behave like profile-media. This mean if you upload to group with privacy set as “private”, media won’t be listed on your profile. But if you keep privacy as “public”, which is default, then it will be listed on your profile.

This is confusing. What we will be doing is removing privacy option altogether and regardless of visibility-setting of groups, media uploaded to groups won’t be accessible via user profiles.

I am not sure if I covered your concerns. Feel free to ask, if anything is not clear.

That’s exactly what I want it to do. I’ve decided to not use privacy filters at all, hoping that groups and forum privacy would be used in those cases. So this is perfect. Do you have an ETA?

Will there be a media tab for groups? If not, can you consider it?

We will try to fix this around Tuesday. We avoid “Friday” releases.

There is already a “media” tab in Groups as of now. That tab will continue to be there.

We have added some details about 2 exact changes we have identified so far - https://github.com/rtCamp/rtMedia/issues/498

Sorry about the media tab question. I didnt have that turned on. That I had since I could upload media. Ooops.

Tuesday is great!

Thank you!

Glad to know you figured out “media” tab.

If you come across any suggestion/improvement, feel free to pass it on.

Sorry again for inconvenience.

Please upgrade to rtMedia 3.4. Details about fix are here - https://rtcamp.com/rtmedia-3-4-simplified-group-privacy/

Please let me us know if this release meets your requirements and use-cases.

I upgraded and it appears to be working. Haven’t tested to see if it broke anything, but I think we are good to go.

Do you have an ETA on forums? The private group forum still displays the image publicaly.

Thanks!

Do you have an ETA on forums? The private group forum still displays the image publicly.

I guess we missed forum-attachments-inside-buddypress-groups. We have handled buddypress-groups and bbpress-forum attachment separately.

I will have a quick discussion with developer team tomorrow and hopefully we can fix this tomorrow only. Today, our office is closed on occasion on Christmas.

Its not working in any forum… group or regular private forums. You can still see the images publicly. I think they only fixed the group part of it. At least that’s what the readme in the update says.

Have a Merry Christmas!

We do not have privacy-control in regular forums. Did you find forum attachment showing up on user’s buddypress profile media tab?

We will definitely fix this on high priority once we figure it out tomorrow.

Merry Christmas!

If I upload an image in a topic that’s in a private forum, the image shows up everywhere… activity feed, sidebar widget and media tab in profile.

Update: We have identified some issues and working on a fix. Details are posted in thus issue - https://github.com/rtCamp/rtMedia/issues/501

We hope to resolved this before end of the day.

Thank you for the update. Obviously, I’m only one voice, and its great to see you guys trying to consider every situation, but I’d be perfectly fine if private/hidden groups/forum media was never displayed in public places… even if you were a member of the group.

@colabsadmin

Please upgrade to rtMedia version 3.4.1.

I hope it will fix your issue. If not, please feel free to reply.

Also, shortcode api has been changed. If you are using it, please have a look at - https://rtcamp.com/rtmedia/docs/common/shortcodes/gallery-shortcode/

Upgrading Pro broke my site. This is happened before, so I think its a whitespace before PHP issue. How I debug this? If I delete the rtMedia Pro folder, all is well again.
