FQDN and mail servers

I’m really excited about the new ee release. Working on setting up a server today. I have a pretty basic question: What is the best practice for setting the FQDN? should it have a subdomain… such as server.example.com? And then will this also be the SMTP, IMPA, and POP server name when setting up email clients?

Thanks!

Hi,

If you have multiple servers then you can setup FQDN as per server use. For example for mail server you can mail.example.com and for web server web.example.com. If you are using only one server then you can use just example.com

Yes then this will be server name for POP, SMTP, IMAP. But don’t forget to make DNS changes also

Thanks for the reply, and happy 1 year to EE! Thanks so much for making this
