FastCGI cache question

When having installed wordpress on the main domain + in a subdirectory, how many times should someone install nginx helper plugin?

I see that the fastcgi cache is able to be updated even though I have not installed nginx helper plugin in wordpress subdirectory.

Which is the right way to do it?
Install the plugin once(just on the main domain) or install it also in the wordpress subdirectory?

I think it will follow every wordpress version where you install it.
if you are doing it will install twice
