Creating password and changing username for Wordpress install?

On https://rtcamp.com/easyengine/faq/#ee17 it says…

Open the following file in your favorite text editor and set ‘user = rtcamp’

vim /etc/easyengine/ee.conf This will be the username for wordpress sites you create in future.

When I type that command into putty I see this:

[stack] apt-get-assume-yes = true gpg-key-fix = false ip-address =

[mysql] grant-host = localhost db-name = false db-user = false

[wordpress] prefix = false user = admin password = email =

BUT I cant type, only delete/overwrite and it messes up the file. How can I edit this file? It says to use a text editor but what am I supposed to do? delete those lines and paste in the new text and then hit Enter?

Seems like you are not aware of how to use vim
