Blogger redirects to homepage but not to specific posts

Hi,

Looking for some help please. I've set up the plugin and followed all the instructions but when I try testing the link by clicking an old blogger post it redirects to my new wordpress homepage but not to the specific post page - this is the url it displays:

http://foragedfoods.co.uk/?b2w=http://wild-foods.blogspot.co.uk/2008/07/ray-mears-wild-food.html

Any idea why? The blogger blog was hosted there using their free service, no custom domain. I've imported posts onto my hostgator hosted site - http://www.foragedfoods.co.uk

Thanks

Hi,
Its a know issue with hostgator hosting account. you can follow this article and hostgator support team will resolve it.
Feel free to reply here, in case of any doubts or questions.
Thanks,
–Nitun

Thanks Nitun, I’ve followed the article and spoke to hostgator support and they told me they’ve changed the settings on my account but I’ve tried reloading the page and it still just redirects to the homepage.
Would I need to go through the process again of using the plugin on wordpress and copying and pasting the code again onto the blogger template?
Thanks!

Hello glenbelt,
Please confirmed the below mentioned things:

  1. Plugin is activated,
  2. Check custom meta field of posts in post editor page of WordPress.
You might find value something like below example:
    blogger_blog = wild-foods.blogspot.co.uk
    blogger_permalink = /2008/07/ray-mears-wild-food.html
Hope all are present in WordPress.

Also, I can see the URL (http://foragedfoods.co.uk/?b2w=http://wild-foods.blogspot.co.uk/2008/07/ray-mears-wild-food.html) still giving 403 Forbidden error.
So, you need to cross check the issue with hosting team again.
Thanks,
–Nitun

Thanks again Nitun.
I’ve had a look and yes the plugin is activated.
When I look at custom meta field I get this for blogger_blog: wild-foods.blogspot.com
And this for blogger_permalink: /2011/09/brilliant-year-for-mushrooms-so-far.html

So I’m wondering if it is because its using wild-foods.blogspot.com whereas my url is wild-foods.blogspot.co.uk (but if you were to go to the .com you’d get redirected to the homepage anyway so maybe that’s what’s happening now?)

When I try that URL it loads up the page and doesn’t give any kind of 403 forbidden error - for me it redirects to the homepage. Is it still different on your computer? What should I say to the hosting - that my security rule still needs to be changed?

Thanks for all of your help

If all is look good then, it should work for you.

No, this is not the issue, our plugin is handling that internally for country wide extensions.

Again, you need to contact the hostgator support team. they may help you if the problem is from there end.
OR, you can hire our team. We will cross check the issue and resolve it asap.
Thanks,

Thanks once again!
I spoke on support again and they said “While I am not hitting rule 1434234 on that domain, I am hitting another mod_sec rule, and have whitelisted that.” which seems to have fixed it.

That's great. :-)

Hi Nitun, I have the same problem of Glenbelt. I did the redirect today. The Blogger redirects to homepage but not to specific posts, see: http://www.cliografia.com/?b2w=http://karinaoliveirabezerra.blogspot.com.br/2011/03/deusa-das-abelhas-melissa.html

Thanks :)

Hi Karina, I can see that you have a hosting with hostgator, so the problem might be because of mod security. Please contact to hosting support team and follow the instructions mentioned in above discussion. I hope the problem will resolve. Thanks,

i am having same issue, but i know my problem, actually i was hosting blogger on custom doamin, so when i imported now all blog post have custom value as: blogger_blog www.MYSITE.com instead of MYSITE.blogspot.com i have more than 2000 Posts is there a quick way to fix this for all posts???

Hi Ali,

Glad you found the solution, yourself. We'd have suggested something similar.
